Braving the shave at Highgate Hill House School!

An employee of Highgate Hill House School, a co-educational school for children with special educational needs aged 5 to 16 years, near Holsworthy, will be shaving her head for ‘Wear a Hat Day’ in March to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

Charlie, who works as a Learning Support Assistant at the school, has a very personal reason for wanting to raise money for the charity.

Charlie’s sister was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in November 2018, and was given just 10 months to 2 years to live. Having currently survived the cancer for 14 months following radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment, the family are holding out hope that a cure will be found before it’s too late.

Charlie said: “I am hoping to raise lots of money for Brain Tumour Research, not just for my sister, but to help find a cure so that no other family has to endure the tragic, senseless loss of someone they love. Becky, our Senior Vocational Instructor, and two of our pupils will be shaving my head on the day”.

Sir Peter Birkett, School Founder, added: “We are so proud of Charlie for raising money in this way. Charlie is well-known for her waist-length hair at school, so it’s a huge thing for her to shave it all off. If you’d like to donate to Charlie’s target of £1,800, please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/charlie-stringer”.
