Whitstone school welcomes new Headteacher as ‘new normal’ school year begins
Highgate Hill House School, a co-educational school for children with special educational needs aged 5 to 16 years, near Holsworthy, has kicked-off the new academic year by welcoming a new Headteacher.
Gina Wagland, who joined the school at the start of September, has relocated to the South West after successfully completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling at the University of Brighton.
Gina said: “I was previously a Headteacher at a non-maintained special school in Sussex, and having recently completed my Post-Graduate course, I was keen to return to education. I am a big advocate of therapeutic intervention and could see how my skills and experience fitted perfectly with the ethos of Highgate”.
“The wellbeing of pupils and staff is a big focus for me this year, having joined the school at a particularly challenging time. As we return to our ‘new normal’, I am keen to ensure that everyone is feeling safe and supported”.
Sir Peter Birkett, School Founder, added: “We are delighted that Gina has joined us as Headteacher at Highgate Hill House School, we are excited by her appointment and very much look forward to working alongside her taking the school to the next level of development”.
